Funeral rites for Elmer E. Botkin, 87, of 505 Rex St., well-known Muncie attorney who died yesterday at Ball Memorial Hospital, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Meeks mortuary. Dr. Newman Jeffrey of the High Street Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary.
A native of Randolph County, Mr. Botkin came to Muncie as a young man. He was a graduate of DePauw University, where he was a member of the first football team of that school. He was a member of the High Street Methodist Church, and of the Muncie Bar Association. He retired from an active law practice in 1940.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Coffin of Muncie; a sister, Mrs. C.E. Martin of Lynn; a brother, William Botkin of Carlos, and a granddaughter, Judith Coffin.
