Original name: Mary O'Connor

Perhaps it was your disease that most provoked your gift; that prompted your talent. Isn't it strange, Ms. O'Conner, that the thing that gives the most pain often promotes the most pleasure. But, what do you think? Maybe we shall talk, one bright day, where there is no Catholic or Protestant...only friends.

O God of spirits and of all flesh, You trampled death, and broke the power of Satan, and granted life to Your world; now grant rest, O Lord, to the souls of Your departed servants Ed, Regina and Flannery, in a place of light, joy and peace, where there is no pain, sorrow or mourning. As a kind and gracious God, forgive every sin committed by them in word, deed, or thought, since there is no person who lives and does not sin. You alone are without sin, Your justice is everlasting justice and Your word is the truth. For You are the resurrection, the life and the repose of Your departed servants, O Christ our God, and we glorify You together with Your eternal Father and Your all-holy, gracious, and life-giving Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen. In blessed repose, grant, O Lord, eternal rest to the souls of Your departed servants, and remember them forever.

I am leaving "flowers," as there were no peacock feathers.Statements like this are why she's special to me: "Everywhere I go, I'm asked if I think the universities stifle writers. My opinion is that they don't stifle enough of them. There's many a best seller that could have been prevented by a good teacher." Bless Flannery O'Connor's flinty soul.

You have been an inspiration to me in my feeble attemts to write short stories. Although you have gone to be with our Lord and Savior, you will always have a place in my heart.
