He was born March 2, 1940, in Ironwood, son of the late Emmett and Genevieve (King) O'Donahue.
He was employed as a bell hop and desk clerk at the St. James Hotel in downtown Ironwood, as a dispatcher and mail deliverer for Twin City Cab Co., as a pop deliveryman for North Star Beverage of Hurley, and worked in the smelter at White Pine Copper Co until he was injured in 1975.
A life-long member of the Aurora Athletic Club in Ironwood, Dave served as president for several years and ran the Aurora Club bingo. He also played horseshoes for the Club and was a member of the Men's Cribbage League. He pitched for several area baseball teams in his earlier years, and when his sons were younger, was involved in Little League and Boy Scouts.
On Sept. 16, 1961, he married Paulette Callovi at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Pamela Juhlin (Tom), Vancouver, Wash., David (Amy) O'Donahue, Ashland, Wis., and Duane O'Donahue, Ironwood; grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph and Zachary O'Donahue, and Michelle and Jessica Juhlin; brothers, Charles O'Donahue, Tacoma, Wash., and John (Mary Jo) Cain, Ironwood; a sister, Sharon (Richard) Cressey, Ironwood Township; numerous nieces and nephews; and Pam.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Emmett "Jack"; and a sister, Mary Pozega.
As per Dave's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation beginning at 10 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin officiating.
Rite of Committal will follow.
Private inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
