ATCHISON, Kan. -- Mary Ellen (Smith) Moore, 80, Atchison, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at a health-care center in Atchison. 
Mrs. Moore had cared for the elderly in their homes in Kansas City, Mo., and Tulsa, Okla. She also had served at the Prayer Tower at the Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. 
Born in Atchison County, Kan., on Aug. 10, 1918, she attended Atchison public schools. She had lived in Kansas City, Kan.; in Tulsa for 20 years; and returned to Atchison in 1996. 
She married Fred L. Moore. They were later divorced. 
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, John and Willamette Smith; and a brother, Johnny Smith. 
Surviving: three sons, Bob, Sweet Home, Ore., James, Denton, Kan., and Gary, Horton, Kan.; three daughters, Lois Smith, Garmisch, Germany, Mary L. Shaw, Houston, Texas, and Patricia Holmes, Tulsa; four brothers, Ernest Smith, Atchison, Jess Smith, Cummings, Kan., Elmer Smith, Olathe, Kan., and Walter Smith, Independence, Mo.; a sister, Melba Brauer, Effingham, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. 
Graveside service and burial: 11:30 a.m. today, Camp Creek Cemetery, near Farmington, Kan. Family visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. today, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Memorials may be made to the Church of Living Love in Atchison.
