Born July 1, 1937 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late Garnett and Ruby (Marksbury) Ashford. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a retired maintenance leader at Osram Sylvania, and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, where he was also past president of Methodist Men. Marvin enjoyed gardening, fishing, and building flatbed trailers.
Other survivors include: three sons, Bruce (Amber) Ashford of Harrodsburg, Tommy (Debbie) Ashford of Harrodsburg, and Allan Ashford of Lexington; two sisters, Joyce (Jim) Gash of Harrodsburg, and Becky Tyler of Louisville; four grandchildren, Bryan Ashford, Erica Ashford, Jessica (Brian) Thompson, and Dylan Ashford; two great grandchildren, Jase & Baleigh Thompson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ashford.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 3 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Jimmy Owens and Rev. Ken Klemme Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are: David, Bryan, Erica, and Dylan Ashford, Jessica and Brian Thompson, Steve Tyler, and Jimmy Gash.Visitation will be Friday, September 2 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY.
