Julia Amodt, 89, died
Funeral services were held at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Leland Wednesday afternoon for Julia Aamodt, 89, who died at the Lake Mills nursing home Monday. Pastor Milo E. Lee conducted the services, Mrs. Wayne Ambroson was organist and Joel Holtan, soloist. Casket bearers were Arnold Ambroson, Oscar M. Ambroson,Carl Alm, Conrad Carlson, Otto Petersen and Andrew Skogen.
Burial was in Forest Home cemetery.
Miss Aamodt was born on the Aamodt farm two miles north of Leland Nov. 1, 1880, to Ambrose and Anlaug Ellefson Aamodt. She was baptized by Pastor Christianson and confirmed by Pastor R. Malmin in West Prairie Lutheran Synod church. She was a member of Our savior's Lutheran church at the time of her death.
Miss Aamodt worked as a practical nurse in St. Paul, Minn., for several years. In the late twenties when her mother was in failing health Julia came home to take care of her and remained on the home farm until 1967. In l964 she fell in the yard of her home and broke her hip. She was hospitalized for four months. March, 1969, she fell and broke the same hip. After leaving the hospital she went to Grohaven nursing home in Forest City. She was transferred to Cox Nursing home in Lake Mills and was the last patient to have there when the Cox home closed as nursing home. She has been a resident of Lake Mills Nursing home since that time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two sisters, Anna Aamodt on the family farm and Marie Aamodt of Lake Mills.
