CHURCH HILL- Dean Arnold, 77, passed away at his residence on Saturday (July 23, 2011) following an extended illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a member of New Beginnings Assembly. Mr. Arnold proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edna Scism Arnold, brothers, Alley Arnold, Donald Arnold, Mack Arnold, and Frank Arnold, Jr., sisters, Mary Skelton, Mattie Trent, and Douglas Fleenor.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley McDavid Arnold, daughters; Delena Ward and her husband, Phil, Melinda Nelson and her husband, Shane, son, Jerome Arnold and his wife, Amy, sisters; Creasy Phipps, Ruby Patterson and her husband, Hugh, brother, Herman Arnold and his wife, Beaulh, grandchildren, Mitchell McKinney, Evan Arnold, Landon Arnold, Jace Nelson, Corrie Christian Lane and husband, Josh, and Marissa Christian, and great grandchild, Noah Lane.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill and anytime at the residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Don Cradic and J.B. Hughes officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 A.M. to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be Phil Ward, Shane Nelson, Mitchell McKinney, Evan Arnold, Quentin Phipps, and Rex Arnold.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Wellmont Hospice and nephew, Quentin Phipps.
