Obituary: "Alora Holt of Veedersburg, age 84, died Friday morning, July 23, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois. She was born in Fountain County, February 3, 1898; the daughter of Washington and Janie E. Thorp Newkirk. December 24, 1915, she married Fred Elmer Holt, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Richard of RR 1, Attica; a brother, Freeman Newkirk of Covington; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. Mike Goforth officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Covington."
