Mr. Winner was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Greenville
to James Earl Winner Sr. and the late Gladys Becon Winner.
The 1952 alumnus of Hickory High School, Hermitage, retired Dec. 15, 1999, as vice
president of Winner International Corp. in Sharon, where he was employed for 13 years.
Mr. Winner was formerly employed as a sales representative for 15 years at Smythe Mercedes Benz, San Jose, Calif. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Mr. Winner
was a United States Navy veteran stationed in Maryland, having served from 1952 to 1956.
Surviving are his devoted and loving wife, the former Jo Anne Newman, at home, whom he married
Aug. 3, 1969; five daughters, Debra Deal, Susan Winner, Crystal Winner, Tina Winner and Carla Winner Hawthorne, and her husband, Larry;
a son, the Rev. Patrick D. Mc- Goldrick, and his wife, Dena; a sister, Rosemarie Wellendorf, and her husband, John; a brother, James E. Winner
Jr. and his wife, Donna; five grandchildren whom he loved spending time with, Paige and Parker Mc-
Goldrick, Emily Winner and Nathanael and Jeremy Hawthorne; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret "Peg" Hanley.
As a believer in Christ, he and his loving family would like to thank the many friends for their prayers. They also would like to thank Hospice for their exceptional and compassionate
care during his illness.
