John Lowenstein Funeral Saturday

The Bismarck Tribune (ND) - December 29, 1967

BELFIELD - Funeral service for John Lowenstein, 75, Belfield, who died in a Dickinson hospital at 7:20 a.m., Tuesday, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. The Rev. Eugene J. Haspert will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Vern Schumacher, Don Howie, Selmer Enger, Harvey Robertson, Martin Klein, and Richard Schurke. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

Mr. Lowenstein was born July 10, 1892 in Russia and came to the United States at the age of 21 settling in South Dakota. He married Rosalia Hoerner on Dec. 8, 1914 in Bowdle, S.D. In 1923 they moved near Belfield where they lived until 1960 when they moved into the city.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lowenstein leaves five sons, Joseph, Tacoma, Wash.,; Balzar, Riverside, Calif.; Anthony, Lodi, Calif.; John Jr., Hilo, Hawaii and LeeRoy Lowenstein, Belfield; six daughters, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Grisham, Hobbs, New Mex.; Mrs. Ronald (Ann) Rosenberg, Fairfield, Calif.; Mrs. Vern (Laura) Schumacher, Mountain Home, Idaho; Mrs. Don (Frances) Howie, Belfield; Mrs. Selmer (Irene) Enger, Riverdale and Mrs. Harvey (Martha) Robertson, Napa, Calif., 38 grandchildren and 5 great -grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.

Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson by family and friends.
