Elizabeth Beavin was born July 6, 1906 in Davenport, Iowa to Lenora and Herman Flemming and died August 31, 1993 in the Deaconess Hospital, Oklahoma City, at the age of 87.
Elizabeth moved with her parents to Cheyenne, Oklahoma as a small child. She attended Southwestern State College and graduated from Northwest College in Alva. She returned to Cheyenne and taught school in Cheyenne and Clear Springs. Elizabeth married Paul J. Beavin on May 25, 1933 in Elk City, OK and made their home in Cheyenne where they owned and operated Beavin's Dry Goods and Tax Service. Although she retired in 1969, she continued to work in the Tax Office with her Daughter-in-law, Joyce and grandson, Jimmy.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father Lenora and V.K. Gray, husband, and 1 grandson.
A Prayer Vigil will be held at the Cheyenne First Baptist Church, Today at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday at the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Sayre, Oklahoma with Reverend Stephen Cude, Celebrant. Graveside services will follow in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Okalhoma at 12 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Phil Johnson of Yukon, Oklahoma; three sons and daughters-in-law, Austin and Mary Beavin Topeka, Kansas, Howard and Joyce Beavin of Cheyenne, Okalhoma, Jerry and Marty Beavin of Nicoma Park, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Ida VonBuskirk of Medford, Oregon, Ellen Sizemore of Cordell, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
