A native of Scott County, Va., he was a retired carpenter and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Bruner in 1985, a son, Kelly Bruner in 1974 and a grandson in 1986.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Kelly (Ethel) Hunley, Kingsport; five sons, James Bruner, Tampa, Fla., Claude Bruner, Albany, Ga., George Bruner and Doug Bruner, both of Kingsport, and Charles Bruner, Gate City, Va., 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Laura Bell Phillips, Fall Branch; three brothers, Mack Bruner, Wisconsin, John Bruner and Roy Bruner, both of Church Hill.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Scott County Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Long officiating.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be in the Holston View Cemetery.
