Thomas Gene Courtney

December 7, 2007

Mr. Thomas Gene Courtney, 63, of Dale, passed away peacefully at his home. He was born on
Feb. 7, 1944 in Joplin, MO., to Thomas and Virginia Houston Courtney. He married Yvonne
Dowdy in Luling, Texas on June 20, 1986. Thomas worked as a Job Coach for M.H.M.R. before
his retirement.

Thomas loved his Lord dearly and loved to tell others about him. He was a compassionate
loving friend to many. He was a godly man who truly cherished his wife of 21 years. His
great sense of humor was enjoyed by all. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Courtney of Dale, four children: Doug Courtney, Sheri
Powers, and Tammy Denham of Missouri, and Rodney Courtney of Dallas; one sister, Reba
Purcell; two brothers, Morris Courtney and Bill Courtney; seven grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at the
Bunton Cemetery with Henry Skinner-Larson officiating. Internment followed immediately.

I am the vine: you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear
much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like
a branch that is thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain
in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be given to you. This is to my Father’s glory,
that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to by my disciples. John 15:5-8.

All arrangements were with Eeds Funeral Home 408 South Main, Lockart, Texas. (512)
