Virginia Jenkins Allen, 82, of Moultrie died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the Golden Apple.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Funston Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Shiver officiating. Interment will follow in Funston Cemetery, with the Rev. William N. McQueen III officiating. Casketbearers will be Matthew L. Allen, John I. Allen, Cline Jenkins Graham, Andy Brinkley, Gary Jenkins and David Scott.
Born Dec. 6, 1928, in Moultrie, Mrs. Allen was the daughter of the late Samuel Steele Jenkins and Sylva Hobgood Jenkins. She was a homemaker and a member of Funston Baptist Church, where she taught the Ladies Sunday School Class for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Lester Allen of Moultrie; one son, Rodney L. Allen and wife Jean of Moultrie; one daughter, Victoria Allen Graham and husband Frank of Marietta; one sister, Jacqueline Jenkins Garner of Moultrie; three grandchildren, Matthew Lester Allen, John Ireland Allen and Cline Jenkins Graham; and three great-grandchildren, Conner Matthew Allen, Branson Garner Allen and John David Allen.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cobb Funeral Chapel. The family may be contacted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Allen. Memorial contributions may be made to Funston Baptist Church.
