George Parker was born on December 30, 1930, in Plaquemine, Louisiana to Mary Blackwell and Joe Parker. He was baptized by the late Reverend J. J. Watson at Israelite Baptist Church, Brusly, Louisiana. He departed this life on Monday, April 26, 1999 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Baton Rouge, Louisiana at 5:30 pm. He was married to Ethel Mae Shaw Parker and to this union two children were born, Edith Ann Parker Lockett and George Parker, Jr.
George leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Ethel Mae Parker; Port Allen, LA; two sons, George Parker, Jr. and Irvin Gray, Port Allen; a stepdaughter, Gloria Johnson, Brusly, LA; two grandchildren whom he helped to rear, Margie J. Williams, Addis, LA and Robert Lockett, Port Allen, LA; grandchildren, Robert Jackson, very special grandson Garry Williams, Jr., Addis, LA; Ronald Lockett, Shawn Keith Lockett and Wendell Crawford. Four sisters, Corrine Washington, New Orleans; Eola Bell, Fannie Jones, and Mary Gillingham, Port Allen; four brothers: Edward Blackwell, Port Allen, Alton Favors, Baton Rouge, Sylvester Dorsey, New Orleans, and Lutcher Miller, Ponchatoula, LA; 35 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren. A very devoted employer and friend, Mrs. Evelyn Terrill, Baton Rouge, LA; a friend, Harvey Kibby, a devoted granddaughter-in-law, Anita Lockett, 3 Godchildren, Robert Johnson, Clint Lemar, and Elvira Dent, sister-in-law, Esther Lee Blackwell and brother-in-law, Paul Bell and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grant & Corrine Blackwell; mother and father, Mary Blackwell and Joe Parker; a daughter, Edith Lockett, three brothers, Rev. James Washington, Grant Favors and Sie Parker; mother-in-law, Pinkie Shaw Morgan, father-in-law, Ruben Shaw and stepfather-in-law, Johnny Morgan.
