James E. Arrants:

Jim was raised in York County and typical of young men of the depression era, he served in the Civil Conservation Corp (CCC) and then volunteered for the Army in January of 1943. Jim was a proud veteran; landing with US forces in Normandy and serving over 2 years in the European Theater. It was in Belgium that he met his first wife; with whom he had three children. He settled his family in New Ellenton, SC. where he worked at the Savannah River Nuclear Plant for 30 years; as an expert welder and sign painter.

In 1990, Jim and Nancy married and lived in Rock Hill. Jim's second love was racing; anything with four wheels and a hot engine. He was active in stock car and go-kart racing for many years. Jim and Nancy were the proud sponsor for his step son, Johnny Arrants, well known racer in the area. Jim and Nancy traveled the US, visiting every state except Alaska and Hawaii and when not traveling, Jim was tinkering on his beloved Jeepster hot rod or making custom bird houses.

Surviving are his wife Nancy F. Arrants, three children, Donna (Billy) Creech of Oriental NC, Don Arrants of Youngstown, FL., Laurie Arrants of Falls Church Va, step son, and Bruce (Cecelia) Arrants of Rock Hill. Grand children include Eric Arrants, Sonja Arrants and step grandson, Donald Arrants. He was predeceased by Johnny Arrants.

Memorial service: Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, Rock Hill, SC.
Burial: Private.
