Hilton Head Island, SC.; Martha (Marty) (Woodyard) Smith, age 68, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Palm Meadows Court on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina after five year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Marty was a 1961 graduate of Canal Winchester High School, Canal Winchester, Ohio and a 1965 graduate of The Ohio State Unversity College of Education.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James Hartley Smith; a son, James Matthew (Gwynne) of Ashville, North Carolina; a daughter, Megan Brooke Smith of Woodbridge, Virginia; her mother, Olive Woodyard; and two sisters, Patricia Gilmore (John) of Lancaster, Ohio and Elizabeth Fridley of Salt Springs, Florida; and numberous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Orlando Wayne Woodyard.
The family would like to thank the loving staff of Memory Matters, a local non-profit organization committed to helping families facing the challenges of dementia care facility and the staff of Tidewater Hospice.
