Soneva was born in Rollag, Buskerud, Norway, 15 Sept 1821, to Ole Olson Grotjorden and Kari Bakkejorordet. She was the second child of seven children. She married Ole Olson Blinsmon 24 Oct 1844 in Norway. They had two children in Norway before immigrating to America in 1848 on the bark Draftna, along with aprox 157 other people including her husband's brother, Knud. They settled in Wisc for a few years before moving to Iowa. After over 20 years and nine more children (two died young or stillborn) they moved to Dakota territory in about 1877, settling in Moody co. They spent their last years living near or with their son in Kingsbury co.
