Esther was born on Feb. 24, 1925, in Dayton to Kenneth and Edythe (Cave) Scott.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Otterbein College, where she met her future husband, Roger McGee.
Survivors include her husband, Roger; daughters, Rose and Margaret; son, Brian; grandsons, Kern, Rory, Trey, Tynan, and Braden McGee and Max Philipson; son-in-law, David Schroeder; and daughter-in-law, Kathe Kern.
Esther was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Scott.
First and foremost, Esther cherished her role as homemaker for her family. She cooked, sewed, and kept a safe and warm nest for those she loved.
Esther and Roger moved to Sidney in 1964 when Roger became superintendent of schools. Esther found friendship and satisfaction in her volunteer work at the assistance desk at FISH, a social services organization.
She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir at Memorial United Methodist Church, as well as participating in United Methodist Women and the Christian Women's Club.
Esther served in the Hospital Auxiliary at Wilson Memorial Hospital, including a term as president of the Auxiliary, and was later employed as ward secretary at the hospital.
In 1996, Esther and Roger moved to Covenant Shores Retirement Community in Mercer Island, Wash.to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She always loved to be with family, and she passed away with family members by her side.
A memorial service was held at the Fellowship Hall in Covenant Shores
