JEFF D. MURPHY, 89, of Bartlett, died April 8, 2011. Mr. Murphy was born October 10, 1921. He was an employee of Union Planters Bank then joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and retired as Master Chief Store Keeper; in 1985 he retired from Scott Appliance and worked part time at CTSI Global. He was a graduate of CBC, Adam Street High School, attended the University of Mississippi, and was a lifetime member of the Memphis Bowling Association. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2 p.m. Monday prior to the Mass at the Church. Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 11 at Church of the Ascension, 3680 Ramill Rd., Memphis, 38128, where he was a communicant. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maude Patterson and Jefferson Davis Murphy. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Ruth Paulas Murphy; daughters Ruth Ann McDermott (Lt. Col. John McDermott, USAF ret.) of Chesapeake, MD, Jane Murphy Watkins (Tommy Watkins) of Oakland, TN, Debbie Murphy Ortega (Margo Ortega) of Mesquite, TX, Barbara Murphy Lewis of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Marion April McDowell (Brent), Sgt. Scott McDermott, U.S. Army; Jeffrey Scott Hudson (Becky), Kevin McDermott (Chasity), PFC Vicky Ortega U.S. Army, Randy Smith, Alexander Smith, Elizabeth Rhea Lewis; great-grandchildren, Austin McDowell, Murphee McDowell, Jay Hudson, Rebecca Grace Hudson.
