Betty Marie Rickman passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at the age of 85. She is survived by her remaining sons, Douglas L., of Huntsville, Ala., and David M., of Biloxi, Miss. Her oldest son, Dwight G., is still missing in action in Vietnam.

Betty was born to Dewey and Minnie Gray in Vernon, Kan. After marrying Dwight H. Rickman in 1943, she moved to Concordia, Kan., and then to Joplin, Mo. After her husband passed away in 1967, she prepared taxes for H and R Block for more than 30 years. She retired from tax work in 2001 and moved to Biloxi.

Her family requests donations be made to Batten Disease Support and Research Association (bdsra.org). The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, in Gulfport, Miss., is in charge of arrangements. I'm
