Wilna E. Beatty, 92, formerly of Avon, died at 10:25 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 1984 at her home at Wesley Village Retirement Center in Macomb. She was born Jan. 2, 1892, in McDonough County, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Merrill) Orwig. She married Joseph W. Beatty on April 6, 1920 in Fulton County. He died Feb. 2, 1955. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Pershing of Cedar Falls, IA; two sons, Donald Beatty of Springfield, IL and J. Robert Beatty of Avon; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Calhoun of Galesburg, Fern Calhoun of Bushnell and Alma Enderli of Fairbury; two brothers, Merle Orwig of Galesburg and Spafford Orwig of Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two great-grandchildren. She taught school before marrying and later, she and her husband farmed for 35 years south of Avon. She was a member of the Carnegie!
Mutual Club, McDonough County Home Extension and the Prairie City Presbyterian Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell. Entombment will be at the Bushnell Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Saturday and family visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
