She was born February 22, 1920, in Earlington. She was the daughter of the late William Donis Lamb and Emeline Hoskins Lamb. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert Stroud Cardwell; two brothers, Ernest Lamb and Marvin Lamb of Earlington; two sisters, Edna Cook of Madisonville, KY and Ida Curtis of Berkley, MI.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Faye Cardwell of Wynnewood and Beverly Bowles of Madisonville, KY; one sister, Juanita Jennings of Evansville, IN; two granddaughters, Kimberly Cardwell Butler of Wynnewood and Ronnah Bowles Alexander of Hanson, KY; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Parker Alexander of Hanson, KY.
Mrs. Cardwell was a housewife, beautician, working at Carmella Beauty Shop in Madisonville. For many years, she operated coal trucks from East Diamond Mines, sold Luziers cosmetics and canvassed Hopkins County for Olan Mills (the portraits were taken at her home in Earlington). She was also a member of Earlington Methodist Church, sang in the choir and was active in the Earlington PTA.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 24, 2004, at 1:00 P.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Don Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 24, 2004, from 10:00 A.M. until the service time at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Dr. James M. Bowles, Tracy Alexander, Wayne Jennings, Jeff Jennings, Tim Dukes, Morton Welborn, Ernie Garst, and Steve Welborn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Earlington Methodist Church, 201 E. Moss Ave., Earlington, KY 42410. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
