HUDSON - Victor E. "Tony" Alera, 72, of 23 Meadowbrook Road, a former cook and joint owner of a pizza parlor, died Wednesday night in University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after he was stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Anastasia (Anastas) Alera; two sons, LIVING; a brother, Frank Alera of Marlboro; a sister, Rose Ferguson of Hudson; two grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, John Alera of Hudson, died last year. He was born in Hudson, the son of Alexander and Theresa (DeSantis) Alera. He graduated from Hudson High School.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He saw action in the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Alera worked for the state at the Concord Armory for many years before he retired. He worked as a part-time cook at the Willow Pond Kitchen in Concord. He once jointly owned and operated A&A Pizza, a local pizza parlor.
He was a member of Hudson Lodge of Elks and Manning Post 1027, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM tomorrow in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Wood Square. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery.
