Gary Allen Sorensen Gary passed away early on Sunday morning, January 30, 2011 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family, friends, and God's great love. What a blessing Gary was for 58 years. He was born on August 22, 1952 in Long Beach, California and was raised with his two brothers, David and Mark, in the same home until his military service in the Army. While in the Army, Gary married his wife, Kelcey, later to settle in Lakewood. Their 37 years together were nothing short of awesome. They had 2 sons, Christopher and Dane. He worked for Seven-up Bottling for 15 years before buying his own Pepperidge Farm Distributorship. He enjoyed running his own business for 22 years. Gary was a faithful steward serving on the church council for Resurrection Lutheran Church. He attended there for 30 years, where he cared deeply for the congregation. Gary had many interest. He played basketball in a league until he was 55. Gary liked model railroad building, photography, astronomy, biblical archeology, US History, and fly fishing. He loved boating with his family and friends on Lake Mojave and Lake Powell. Gary was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa "Poppy" and friend. Gary will be forever loved and remembered by his wife, two sons, three grandchildren, a great grandson; his two brothers, and the rest of his family and dearest friends. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 on February 12 at Resurrection Lutheran Church (1900 E. Carson Street Long Beach, CA 90807) to be followed by a luncheon.
