The funeral for Gary Lee Arnold, 69, of Elkmont, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Donald Clem and Donnie Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the Limestone Memorial Gardens.
He passed from this life on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at home surrounded by family and friends that he loved and those who loved him.
Gary was a member of the New Life Worship Center. He was a retired U.S. Army Major and received numerous medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He loved his country and gave years of service. After his retirement, he established his own property appraisal business.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Arnold; his mother, Dorothy Arnold Punkka; father, Winfred Arnold; stepfather, Lauri Punkka; and brother, Eugene Arnold.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Arnold; daughter, Michelle Marty and her husband David of Huntsville; grandsons, Jake and Nick Marty; brother, Lewis "Bud" Arnold of Minnesota; and sister, Lauri Baratto of Minnesota.
Everyone who knew him, loved him. He lived a Christian life and was very quick to tell you about his church and to invite you to visit with them. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be his two grandsons, Jake and Nick Marty; and Greg Jackson, Lee Brooks, Freddie Clem, John Zirbel, Bob Harrell, Randy Pressnell and Rodney Campbell.
Honorary pallbearer will be Ron Wilkins.
