Services celebrating the life of Elsie Irene Daugherty Allen will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2011, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Joe Reynolds officiating. Music for the service will be directed by Brother Roy Baker. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.

Mrs. Allen, 89, of Pineville, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, three days shy of her 90th birthday.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.

During her working years, Mrs. Allen worked at Huey P. Long Hospital as a Medical Records Clerk/Typist for 19 years.

Elsie was born in Baca County, Colorado, but moved with her family to Beauregard Parish during the late 1930's to escape the dust bowl.

She was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church, Pineville, serving for many years as church clerk. She spent her life dedicated to her family and her Lord.

She was a member of the local chapter of the Gold Star Mothers of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert W. and Bessie Jenkins Daugherty; husband, William R. Allen; son, Robert C. Allen; brothers, Joe, Billy and Walter Daugherty; sisters, Ollie Mae Daugherty, Roberta Snodgrass and Loreta Roberts.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three children, Donna Brough and husband Arnold of Pineville, Linda Mamere and husband Mel of Cleveland, Ohio, Randy Allen and wife Mary of Hampton, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Mark Carter and wife Ira of Camp Casey, South Korea, Shannon Rodrigues and husband Mickey of Katy, Texas, Wendy, Matthew and Robert Mamere of Cleveland, Ohio, Jennifer Ray and husband Rocky of McKinney, Texas, Kevin Brough of Pineville, Karen Allen of Dallas, Texas; six great grandchildren, Austin, Allison and Emily Rodrigues of Katy, Texas, Monika and Sonja Daniels and Erika Carter all of Alexandria.
