I portray Horace Porter here in Gettysburg. I only hope that I even approach the level of goodness, dedication and duty that Gen. Porter had in his lifetime

In remembrance of Horace Porter (my great, great grandfather) to whom of which I owe my privilege of who I am today. I thank the author for providing Porter's biography. For those who are interested in my proof, please visit either the Norristown Preservation Society or the Historical Society of Montgomery County and the my family tree is traced as follows; (Norris, Schrack, Porter, Schull and Freas). Thank you Horace Porter, for without you, I would not be here today, nor would I be the individual I am today.

Are there any Porters out there that claim to be related to Horace Porter? I believe that I may be related to him but I can't confirm without more Porters. There is a Porter DNA Project listed here. If you know of any Porters that are directly related to Horace Porter please consider DNA testing for historic purposes. Thanks!

What you clearly understood was the iconic symbolism of Admiral John Paul Jones, and your pursuit of his remains and their proper return to his homeland, was as decisive and appropriate as was the decision you made which earned you your CMOH. Indeed you were, are, and shall always remain a diamond of a find among men. Thanks to you Admiral John Paul Jones is where he should be, to inspire young mid-shipmen at Annapolis to do their best for their flag and country and overcome whatever odds they encounter.
