Mrs. Roberta Ward, longtime Cushing resident, died Friday, April 21, 2000, in Cushing Regional Hospital at age 82. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Davis Funeral Home. Curtis Swisher, a grandson, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
The daughter of Sandy Alexander and Enza Inez Johnston, she was born March 9, 1918, in Cushing, where she was reared and educated. On Jun 6, 1935, she married Ray H. Ward, He died Oct. 2, 1983. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cushing, enjoyed being a homemaker and mother and was known for her good cooking.
She was predeceased by her parents, a daughter. Wanda Faye Swisher; four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Lee Swisher and her husband Burke of Loma, Colo.; one son, Don R. Ward and his wife Sharon of Wynnewood; a sister, Bonnie Morphew of Meeker; a sister-in-law, Hazel Cusac of Cushing; a son-in-law, Stan Swisher of Cushing.
Also, 11 grandchildren, Rebecca Slinkard and husband Bobby of Swanton, Ohio. tony Swisher of Shreveport, La., Curtis Swisher and Wife Giovanna of Lake Jackson, Texas, Brita Long and husband Paul of Rogers, Ark., Patty Chisum and husband Dan of McKinney, Texas, Mark Swisher and wife Virginia of Houston, Texas. Staci Hardin and husband Randy of St. Louis, Mo., Rod Swisher and wife Chandra of Chandler, Tammy Howell and husband Jeff of Frederick, Brian Ward and wife Shana of Oklahoma City and Alan Ward of Wynnewood;, And, 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
