Deceased Name: GEORGE W. BARNES
Retired Army Warrant Officer IV George Warren Barnes of 453 Cove Creek Place, Fayetteville, died Sept. 20 in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham.

He was a member of Silver Square Lodge No. 407, Triple Nickle Club and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Mr. Barnes was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, a veteran of World War II and part owner of LaJean Beauty College.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Main Post Cemetery on Fort Bragg by Father Kita.

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Shirley L. Barnes of the home; four sons, Geoffrey W. Barnes of Cincinnati, Dr. Karamo C. Nee of Los Angeles, and Michael F. Barnes and Marc A. Barnes, both of Philadelphia; four daughters, Jean E. Gurthrie, Imelda R. Taylor and Regina L. Bowman, all of Cincinnati, and Myra Nevius of Jamison, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Vonda Morris of Maryland; a brother, Minuard C. Barnes of Apple Valley, Calif.; five sisters, Gloria A. Davis of Lemon Grove, Calif., Millie Taylor and Ernestine Bryant, both of Cincinnati, Carolyn F. Moure of Walterboro and Ethel Hoge of Aurora, Ill.; 28 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 7 p.m. at H.M. Colvin Funeral Home. A rosary will be held from 6 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Carolina Cancer Society.
