Charles Herman Altrock was born July 13, 1884, in Germany, the son of Carl and Mary (Goldopp) Altrock. He came to the United States with his family to Pottawattamie County, Iowa, in 1887. He married Emma Karoline Schmielau on January 16, 1908, at the home of her parents farm near Treynor. Together they farmed near Treynor, until they retired and moved to Treynor.
Surviving are his wife, Emma; and five sons, Harold, Ralph, Raymond, Vernon and Delmar Altrock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Otto Altrock.
