Major Lee Ackerman, 65, died while at work at the Springs Cotton Mill here yesterday (December 17, 1954).
Funeral services will be held at 11:15 a.m. tomorrow at the Spring Dale Baptist Church here, with the Rev. B. A. Davis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Harmony Church near Andrews. Cauthen Funeral Home of Lancaster is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Ackerman was born in Williamsburg County, son of the late Robert and Argent Rowell Ackerman, on June 16, 1880 (sic). He was a textile worker all his life.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Rhoda Norton Ackerman of the home; seven sons, Robert Ackerman of Rock Hill, Thomas Ackerman of Spartanburg, Leonard Ackerman, Lee Ackerman Jr., Ted Ackerman, and Jimmy Ackerman, all of Lancaster, Kenneth Ackerman, stationed in the Philippine Islands with the U. S. Navy; four daughters, Mrs. Robert Sherrill, Mrs. Buster Hegler, Mrs. Robert Millen, and Miss Joan Ackerman, all of Lancaster; 22 grandchildren; one brother, Ervin Ackerman of Andrews; and one sister, Mrs. Sulie Cooper of Andrews.
Nephews from Andrews will be pallbearers.
