Orville 'Bootz' Antonsen, age 78, passed away at his home in Gibbon Friday, July 9, 2004.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2004 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Hughes Funeral Home.

Orville was born to Grant and Tabea (Gruenhagen) Antonsen on October 31, 1925 on the family farm south of Buffalo Lake. He was baptized and confirmed at the same church he is to be buried. On May 9, 1948 he married Phyllis Berger at the Wellington church.

They lived on the Antonsen farm where they farmed for many years. Orville was a trucker also for many years for various farmers hauling peas, sweet corn, and sugar beets.

Later he worked for the Sibley County Highway Department. In 1985 they moved to Gibbon right near the county shop. In 1987 he retired. Then Orville and his wife started to winter in Florida for the last fifteen years where he golfed, did fishing and went to the beach which he loved. When they came back to Minnesota he enjoyed going to the farm, playing cards, and going fishing with the grandchildren.

Orville is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughters and sons-in-law Debra and Michael Johnson, of Eagan, MN, Brenda and John Mathews, of Venice, Florida, son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Pamela Antonsen, of Buffalo Lake, MN; grandsons Drew Johnson, Joshua, Tyler, and Brandon Antonsen, brothers-in-law Bill Hillger, of Minneapolis and Charles Berger, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother in law Priscilla and Wilfred Ebent, sister Elynor Hillger and by his brother and sister-in-law Virgil and Ordell Antonsen.
