Catfish: You and Thurman were 2 of the biggest reasons the Yankees became the Yankees again in the 70's, and the '78 team never would have pulled off the miracle comeback without you being the true ace down the stretch. It was truly fitting that you closed the Dodgers out and helped the Yanks repeat as champs that year. I'm sure you're pitching to your old pal Thurman Munson with Billy Martin watching from Heaven's dugout, just like the old days. May God always bless all of you.

Happy Birthday, Mr.Hunter. You were, are, and will always represent everything which is right with the national pastime. Thank you for the countless memories and moments, which you have and continue to provide for generations of fans, young and old. You are and will remain one of the most talented, competitive, and big-game pitchers the game will ever know. Thank you for battling a deadly and incurable disease with strength, dignity, and courage. It would have been the greatest honor to have met and worked with you. May God continue to bless and watch over you and those you love then, now, and always.RIP

Thank you for the countless memories and moments, which you have and continue to provide generations of fans, young and old. You are and will remain one of the most talented, clutch, and classiest players of your generation, and an example by which all should aspire to emulate, both on and off the field. Green and gold for you, Catfish. You will always be an Oakland A to me. I watched you in all three World Series there in '72, '73, and '74. I had four young children at that time and all of us were A's fans. Each of us had a favorite A's player, and you were mine. Years later, when the children were all grown up and living in various parts of the country, they each called me when they heard of your passing. They all knew I would be sad about the news. We talked of you that day, the good times we had watching you, and of what a fierce competitor you were on the mound. We still do talk of you and remember you. You were the greatest of pitchers. Thanks for the memories and for being a shining example of what a professional ball player should be. Rest in Peace.

You were a bight spot in bad childhood for me. I'll always fondly remember the "Catfish". When I hear thunder, I think of your pitch hitting the catcher's mitt for a strikeout. RIP
