Samuel Prieto, 25, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 in Jones County. A rosary will be said 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 10th at Starbuck Funeral Home. A mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11th at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church with Reverend Terry Brenon officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Samuel was born December 19, 1984 in Mexico to Salvador and Enedina (Aguirre) Prieto. He was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. Samuel graduated from Merkel High School in 2004 where he played football and baseball. He worked for Southwest Pools and Spas for 5 or 6 years. He enjoyed playing in softball tournaments.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Erica and Maliya Prieto both of Denton; his parents, Salvador and Enedina Prieto of Merkel; 1 brother, Salvador Prieto of Roanoke, VA; 1 sister, Juliana Prieto of Merkel; maternal grandparents, Esteban and Josefina Aguirre of Mexico; paternal grandmother, Teresa Prieto of Mexico; many aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ofelio Prieto and cousin, Francisco Cano.
