John, Jr. was born July 16, 1852, in Philadelphia City, PA. As a young man he worked as a cooper. On Nov. 15, 1875 John married Emma P. Cooper in the Asbury Methodest Episcopal Church in Philadelphia. Emma Cooper, born 1856 Clarksboro, Greenwich Twp., Gloucester Co., New Jersey, was the daughter of Hanson & Margaret Cooper.
John & Emma's first child was a daughter, Lily May, born June 11, 1876 and died Dec. 18, 1876 (6 months old). Their 2nd child was John Hanson Coburn, born Dec. 13, 1877 and died April 6, 1882.
John, Jr. died a few months after John Hanson's birth on March 30, 1878. His funeral was held in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Kingsessing Ave., officiated by Rev. Charles A. Maison.
John, Jr. lived 25 Yrs., 8 Mos., 14 Days and is buried with his two small children in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
