Arthur Samuel Fletcher, 83, died Dec. 7, 2010.
He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late John Elozo Fletcher and Ida E. Sheppard Fletcher.
Funeral service will be in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the Rev. Dr. Warner Doles officiating.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
Mr. Fletcher was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and retired from the United States Postal Service.
He was married to Mary Frances Webb Fletcher for over 60 years.
Survivors include his grandson, James Arthur Swanson of Gastonia, great-grandson, James Arthur Swanson Jr. of Gastonia; brother, John E. Fletcher of Gastonia; sister, Helen Margaret Oakley of Nashville, Tenn.; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Ann Haney; grandson, Billy Joe Swanson; brothers, James Norman Fletcher, Exlice Monroe Fletcher, Dwight Earl Fletcher, Paul Lee Fletcher and sister, Clara Ophelia Givens.
