Iris June Connolly died at her home on Saturday, November 27th, 2010. The former Iris French was born in Ray, Indiana to Effie Bell and Charlie French in 1924. She was always proud that her birthday fell on Halloween. She graduated from Montpelier, Ohio High School in 1943. During WWII she trained to be a nurse. She attended Bowling Green State University and graduated with her bachelor degree in education from Wayne State University and her masters in education from Eastern Michigan University. She was a natural teacher and taught in Zaragoza, Spain and in the Livonia, MI School System for over 30 years. Iris was instrumental in developing the program for gifted students in Livonia.
She married her high school sweetheart, Val LaRue Connolly in 1946. They shared more than sixty years together pursuing their passion for education and love of travel.
Iris Connolly was predeceased by her husband, Val Connolly in 2009. She was survived by her three children, Corrine Connolly, Kris Connolly (Sharon), and Kyle Connolly (Betsy). She adored her five grandchildren, Chris Meagher, Jennie (nee Meagher) Cotton, Lauren Connolly, Sean Connolly, and Sarah Connolly.
