JOHN HOLMES
---John S. Holmes, former resident of this city and brother of L. P. Holmes, here, died at his home at El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Tuesday from a heart attack. He was only ill a short time.
---John S. Holmes was born September 22, 1862, near Gibbs, Missouri, a son of W.W. and Malinda Holmes. He was one of a family of eight children. One brother, L.P. Homes of La Plata and a sister, Mrs. Queen E. Reynor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, survives, also his wife and an eight year old daughter, Olive, other relatives and many friends.
---Mr. Holmes spent the most part of his life in or near La Plata and will be remembered by many La Plata people. He had lived in El Dorado Springs the past eleven years.
---Funeral services were held at El Dorado Springs yesterday afternoon and the remains were brought here this morning and taken to the La Plata Cemetery where a short service was conducted by Rev. R. L. Hudson, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church. Burial was made in the La Plata cemetery.
---Those coming with the remains included Mr. and Mrs. George Duncan and son, parents and brother of Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Henry Miller, the daughter, Olive, O.B. Siders, undertaker of El Dorado Springs and Mrs. Russell McNabb of Kansas City. Mr. Holmes' wife was ill and unable to come.
