Ora Gorham, 103, of RR 2 LeRaysville, Orwell Township, died Friday evening, May 17, 1996, at her home. Born June 8, 1892, in Potterville Pa., she was the oldest of 10 children of Edwin and Erdine Pendleton Manchester. After teaching briefly in the South Hill School, she married Claude S. Gorham on May 1, 1912. He had been the school principal in Orwell. Mr. And Mrs. Gorham raised Jersey cows on the Gorham Farm for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 11, 1966. She was a member of the Orwell Grange and the Potterville Ladies Aid. Ora enjoyed gardening, needle crafts and genealogy. Surviving are a daughter, Florence Belcher of LeRaysville RR 2; a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Levi Roof of Rome RR 1; grandchildren, Edwin Roof of Bedford, Texas, Ruth White of Lakeland, Fla., Cynthia Russell of Rome RR 1, Levetta Comstock of LeRaysville RR 2, Sandra Roof of Knoxville, Tenn., Juanita Campbell of LeRaysville RR 2, Belinda Snodgrass of Rome RR 1, Erdine Moore of Towanda, Marylee McDowell of Maple Shade, N.J.; 22 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Manchester of Leesburg, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Manchester of Towanda RR 2; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave, Towanda. The funeral service will be held Monday, May 20, 1996 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Steven D. Crabtree, pastor of the United Church of Christ of LeRaysville and Potterville, officiating. Interment will be in the LeRaysville Cemetery, LeRaysville. The family suggests memorial donations may be directed to the Potterville Community Hall in care of Mrs. Milrae Edsell, RR 1, Rome, Pa., 18837 in Mrs. Gorham's memory.
