Tamae Takanishi Tufts Passed way, surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren on November 11, 2009 at the age of 68. Born in Hiroshima, Japan in 1940 she was an atomic bomb survivor and later attended The Sogetsu-ryu Academy School of Ikebana in Tokyo. Tamae (Tammy) was an avid gardener, loved to read and cook. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, caregiver and friend. She has joined her parents Harumatu Takanishi & Kiyoe Fujikawa who preceded her in death. She is survived by her former husband Gerald E. Tufts, her daughters Marian Sachiko Tufts & Pauline Michiko Tufts, grandchildren Mallory, Maia and Liam Tufts, her 2 sisters, 3 brothers and many nieces and nephews throughout Japan. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday Dec. 2, 2009 at the Church of the Chimes, 1447 Bryan Ave. SJ at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests a donation be made to: Hakone Foundation P.O.
