Helen Lucille Weiser Green Brugger, age 98, of Marysville, died peacefully Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living. A 1937 graduate of Byhalia High School, she owned a beauty shop in Byhalia early in her career and later operated Lucille’s Fashion Flair at Stocksdale Plaza. A member of Shiloh Chapel Evangelical Friends Church and a former member of Byhalia Friends Church, her commitment to Jesus Christ was very important and she was always involved in church activities. A choir director at both churches, she also played the accordion, piano and organ. As a mother, she taught her children to love God and put Him first in their lives. She cherished her family, music, reading, Bible study and gardening. She was born December 14, 1919, the second child, to the late Herbert and Fannie Wormell Weiser. She also was preceded in death by her first husband of 43 years, Paul F. Green, whom she married in 1937; her second husband of 32 years, DeArle Brugger, whom she married in 1981; a brother, James (Lib) Weiser, a sister and best friend, Velda (Howard) Allen, a sister Betty (Bobby) Fridenmaker; a sister-in-law, Donna Weiser; and two step-children, Joyce (John) Willet and Madeline (Kenneth Emery) (Rev. Doug) Thompson. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Kay (James) Sommers of Akron, Dr. Paul E. (Sheila) Green of Akron and Harold (Bonnie) Green of Marysville; her brother, Herbert Lowell Weiser of Cuyahoga Falls; 21 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and four step-children, Lois (Arnie) Saylor, Kenneth (Patti) Brugger, Carolyn (Rob) Mills and Dennis (Janet) Brugger, all of Michigan. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Food and fellowship will immediately follow the funeral at Shiloh Chapel Friends Church. Graveside services will be held later that afternoon at 2 p.m. at York Township Cemetery. Pastor James Davis will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Chapel Friends Church, 16435 Square Drive, Marysville, Ohio 43040. The family especially thanks the staff of Brookdale Village for making her last seven years most enjoyable and for the care that she received and the friends that she made.
