Roanoke resident, 21, drowns at Pine Lake
Adams county recorded its second drowning of the summer Sunday when a 21-year-old Roanoke resident, James L. Blaising, died at Pine Lake, located about three miles west of Berne south of state road 218 at 4:30 p.m.
No one witnessed the drowning, but another swimmer discovered the body and called lifeguards to the scene. Blaising’s body was recovered at 4:40 p.m. in seven feet of water near a small diving board.
He had a scrape on the top of his head and a bump on his forehead which may have been caused by his diving off the board and striking his head underwater.
The only previous death by drowning this year in Adams county was that of a a young Rickie Garwood on July 12.
