Esther C. Fessler

Esther C. Fessler, 77, of Edina, died Friday evening, August 21, 1992, in a Kirksville hospital.

Christian Wake Services were held Sunday evening, August 23, 1992, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina. Mass of the Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, August 24, 1992, in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring with the Father Clarence Wiederholt officiating. Burial was in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery at Baring.

The daughter of Joseph F. Delaney and Mary Elizabeth Fink Delaney, she was born August 15, 1915, near Baring.

On June 24, 1947, she married Leo F. Crawford, who preceded her in death on December 10, 1982. To this union, one son, Robert Crawford of Hannibal, was born and he survives.

On October 3, 1987, she married Lawrence Fessler of Edina and he survives.

Also surviving are two step-children, Larry J. Fessler of Edina and Mrs. Alvin (Carol Ann) Moutrie of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; two grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Crawford of Hannibal; five brothers, William DeLaney, Claud DeLaney, Maurice (Tom) DeLaney, Raymond DeLaney, all of Baring and Virgil DeLaney of Brashear; five sisters, Mrs. Leo (Marie) Ludden of Kirksville, Mrs. Paul (Edna) Witherow of Baring, Mrs. Bert (Eileen) Wiggenjost of West Point, Iowa and Mrs. William (Loretta) Timmemeyer and Mrs. Jack (Marjorie) Helling, both of Ft. Madison, Iowa and several step-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Paul Joseph DeLaney and two sisters, Martha Virginia DeLaney and Frances C. DeLaney.

Mrs. Fessler was reared in the Baring community. She attended the Baring Rural School and High School. She graduated from the Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville. She was a teacher for a number of years in Adair County. Mrs. Fessler and her husband Leo lived on a farm west of Baring for several years until moving to Edina where they lived until his death in 1982.

Mrs. Fessler worked for 15 years at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina. She and her husband Lawrence resided in Edina. She had been in failing health for the past three months and she had been hospitalized for the past three weeks.

Mrs. Fessler was a member of the St. Ann Altar Society and the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina.
