Mr. Doyle Jefferson Beckum Sr., 61, of 524 Broad Street, entered into rest at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 1953. Funeral services will be held at Blythe Baptist Church Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. Robert C. Daniel and the Rev. J.R. Thompson will officiate. Interment will be in the churchyard cemetery. Pallbearers will be P.H. Crosby, A.F. Halford, Rabun Moore, Paul Templeton, Luther Weatherford and F.H. Turner. Mr. Beckum, a native of Blythe, had resided in Augusta practically all of his life. He was the son of the late Jefferson Davis Beckum and Sarah Ella Buck Beckum of Richmond County. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Lou Roberson Beckum; two sons, J.C. Beckum and Doyle J. Beckum Jr. of Augusta; daughter, Mrs. Mary Alice Davis of Augusta; five grandchildren; three brothers, A.F. Beckum of Wrens, Ga., J.L. Beckum of Augusta and C.G. Beckum of Waynesboro, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Cawley of Sparta, Ga., Mrs. Harris Matthews of Blythe and Mrs. L.E. McLelland of Hephzibah, Ga., and a number of nieces and nephew. Elliott Sons.
