COMO - Barbara Lynn Ashby, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007. She was born Sept. 5, 1933, in Chickasaw County to Abner Elkin Fant and Eufala Kimbrell Fant. She graduated from Houston High School in 1951 and attended Mississippi State University. She lived many years in Chickasaw County, DeSoto County and Searcy County before moving to Como. She was a member of Como Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Eastern Star in St. Joe, Ark. She enjoyed cooking, all church activities and playing games with "the girls." She was a very proud "Granny."
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Pate-Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Senatobia. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Houston Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Henry Augustus "Gus" Ashby Jr.; two sons, Henry "Ricky" Ashby III of Marks and Kim F. Ashby of Walls; one daughter, Nancy L. McNail of Como; one sister, Peggy Baltz of Las Vegas, Nev.; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
