Charles C Abbey was named a director of the newly formed Chicopee Street Railway Company. Their purpose was to construct and operate an electric railway from Holyoke, MA through Chicopee, MA terminating in Springfield, MA. Other directors included ex-Senator Gibson and James Loomis of Chicopee, William Kickham of Worcester, MA, J. E. Delaney of Holyoke, MA and Selig Mailla of Springfield, MA.
