PARKER CITY--Ruth E. Hiatt,a longtime resident of rural Parker City, died Wednesday evening,Sept. 15, 2010 at her daughter's home in Winchester following an extended illness.

She was 79 years of age. Born in Portland on Dec. 9,1930,her parents were Harley and Dortha Millett. She graduated from Portland High School in 1948 and lived most of her life in Randolph County where she farmed with her husband of forty-four years,the late Arnold E. Hiatt. She was a homemaker and member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her son,Mike A. Hiatt (wife:Brenda)of Parker City;two daughters,Joyce A. Himes (husband:Bill) of Winchester and Debbie Henning (husband:John) of Winchester,formerly Debbie Brouse;a brother,Tom Millett(wife:Wanetta) of Portland;eight grandchildren,Brandy Stroup (fiance:Jim Dilsaver),Matthew Hiatt,Michael Hiatt,Chris Himes,Scott Himes(companion:Heather), Keatha Brouse (fiance:Randy Ludwick),Krista Brouse (fiance:Chris Musgrove),and Jason Brouse; seven great-grandchildren,Mikael Stroup,Brayden Stroup,Jayden Stroup,Devin Himes,Graham Himes, Averi Ludwick,Gunner Ludwick, and one step-great-grandson,Harrison Hamilton.

Along with her parents and husband,she has two sisters deceased,Betty Thornburg and Joan James.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday,Sept. 19,2010 at Meacham Funeral Service,Albany with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery,Maxville.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday Sept. 18,2010 from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
