Dorothy Cousins Passed away suddenly early Monday morning, September 4th, 2006 at age 89.
She was a long time resident of Sausalito and, for the last few years, at The Redwoods in Mill Valley, California. Dort was born in Pasadena, CA. She attended Polytechnic School of Pasadena, Katherine Branson School, and Bennington College in Vermont. She and her late husband, Ivan, were very active in local politics and causes. She was one of the founders of Marin Country Day School, and she served as president of The Tamalpais High School PTA. Dort and Ivan were very involved with the Sunny Hills Children's Garden and initiated the Culinary Carnival as a benefit for the organization. One of the first celebrity chefs was her older sister, Julia Child.
She is survived by daughter Philadelphia Cousins, son Samuel Cousins and her grandsons, Nick Moran and Max Cousins.
Services will be held Friday, September 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 70 Santa Rosa Avenue, Sausalito. Donations in her memory may be made to the Marine Mammal Center or Sunny Hills.
