Funeral Held for T. A. Bangen, Sanish Area Pioneer
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home chapel for Theodore A. Bangen, 82, retired Sanish area farmer who died unexpectedly on Sunday at his home.
Rev. Marvin Mutzenberger of Zion Lutheran Church officiated.
A second service will be held Friday at 2 in Sand Hill Lutheran Church near Climax, Minn., and burial is to be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Bangen was born in Climax April 2, 1887, to Mr. and Mrs. Hans H. Bangen, and was reared there. On November 9, 1907, he married Emma Amelia Berg in Crookston, Minn. They lived in the Climax area until 1917, except for a short time when Mr. Bangen homesteaded in Canada.
In 1917 the Bangens homesteaded in the Sanish area and farmed there until 10 years ago, then moved to Minot.
Mr. Bangen was a member of Grand Valley Lutheran Church, New Town; was a director of the Farmers Union Oil Company at Sanish and New Town from 1945 to 1959; was township assessor for nine years; was president of the Farmers Union local in Sanish; was township secretary and a director of the Farmers Telephone Exchange.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and five sisters.
Surviving are his wife; two brothers, Anton of New Town and Helmer of Climax; and one sister, Mrs. Laura Stromsmoe in Alberta.
